Over the years we have grown our knowledge and understanding of being culturally responsive to our students and have built on our relationships to raise student achievement.
All students have complexities in their education; academic issues, personal issues, whanau issues, there is always something more than just writing a story or solving a maths problem. We aim to look at the whole child through a Hauora lens, their taha wairua, taha hinengaro, taha whanau, me taha tinana, and utilise strategies learnt from Te Kotahitanga and Kia Eke Panuku to help support our students into a learning pathway that is meaningful and rewarding.
We are whole-heartedly a Restorative and Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) School.
Restorative approaches in schools are being sought as alternatives to more punitive disciplinary systems and procedures where often there have been little or no links between wrongdoers and those they have harmed, nor any real connections between the punishment and the actual offence. It is also about trying to help our students to grow if they make poor decisions, and reward positive behaviours.
In the past, Work and Income Support has provided assistance with the purchase of uniform and stationery at the beginning of the year. Parents should contact Work and Income Support to check their eligibility.
If parents have financial difficulty for uniform, books or other school matters please contact the Principal as there may be other community or College funds available to help support you.
A travelling allowance may be available where pupils live more than 5km from a bus stop. Please contact the office for more information.
